The Wheels on the Bus

Kindergarten children (children  aged 3-5) have a lot of fun with this idea and they get to sing.

Materials. One copy of the bus picture for each child, and a copy of the lyrics sheet goes in the English folder for the parent or guardian to practice with the child.

First the children get a picture of a bus. Then the children must guess and remeber the vocabulary in the picture. They colour the picture in at the same time and have fun. Then the children must fit the vocabulary into the song. For example the crocodile on the bus goes snap snap snap. A great song to come back to lesson after lesson to reinforce it as almost any new vocabulary can be made to fit.

The lyrics

(just paste them into a word document)

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
round and round,
round and round.
The wheels on the bus go round and round,
all day long.

The wipers on the bus go Swish, swish, swish;
Swish, swish, swish;
Swish, swish, swish.
The wipers on the bus go Swish, swish, swish,
all day long.

The horn on the bus goes Beep, beep, beep;
Beep, beep, beep;
Beep, beep, beep.
The horn on the bus goes Beep, beep, beep,
all day long.

The money on the bus goes, Clink, clink, clink;
Clink, clink, clink;
Clink, clink, clink.
The money on the bus goes, Clink, clink, clink,
all day long.

The Driver on the bus says "Move on back,
move on back, move on back;"
The Driver on the bus says "Move on back",
all day long.

The baby on the bus says "Wah, wah, wah;
Wah, wah, wah;
Wah, wah, wah".
The baby on the bus says "Wah, wah, wah",
all day long.

The mommy on the bus says "Shush, shush, shush;
Shush, shush, shush;
Shush, shush, shush."
The mommy on the bus says "Shush, shush, shush"
all day long.

The crocodile on the bus goes snap, snap, snap;
snap, snap, snap;
Snap, snap, snap.
The crocodile on the bus goes snap, snap, snap;
all day long.

 The children love this activity so much that they draw their own buses and I often find that a child has turned over whatever the current lesson handout is to draw a bus on the back and prompt a Wheels on the bus singalong.

This is one of my favourites. The crocodile on the bus is always a big hit.
