Listen to mp3 to Improve Your English 
 
Listening to a new language and undrstanding it is very hard, but I think you should start as soon as possible. Even if you understand less than 30% of the first mp3 you listen to, it gets your brain used to understanding spoken English and dealing with words more quickly.
 
 
Sites with free mp3 in English
www.pluggd.com/directory  is a site great little collection of mp3 in English which includes humour, business news and science news. The site is simple to navigate and the English is interesting which will keep you coming back for more which will mean that you come to understand more and more.
 
http://www.englishthroughstories.com/scripts/scripts.html is a collection of useful slowly read stories. This site is created by Dr Quinlan whos mp3s are very popular with some of my students.
 
http://www.guardian.co.uk/podcasts is the collection of podcasts put together by my favourite newspaper, "The Guardian". A left wing newspaper that has podcasts with high production values on almost any subject.
 
Channel 4 is a producer of very high quality information and entertainment content in English. http://www.channel4radio.com/
  
alt-usage-english.org/audio_archive.shtml is a site with mp3 that focuses very closely on English as a language. It has different accents and some of the more peculiar parts of English. It is probably of most inteest to the more advanced student.
