I Have Been Doing
We use this form of words to talk about a past action that is connected to now.
If we use the …ing form we are talking about a time period.
I have been doing my homework this week. (The homework is not finished and this week is not over, it is connected to now)
I have been swimming today. (The swimming took some time and today is not over, it is connected to now.)
I have been cutting these papers. (The cutting has taken some time and the person has the paper now, a clear connection to now.)
