As you can probably see, in this children's book illustration there isn't enough space on the school bus and there are certainly enough animals already aboard.

 

I showed this illustration to a few agents and publishers at the London Book Fair a couple of years ago and got some feedback that I found quite surprising. The publishers thought the eyes in the illustrations were too big and reminded them of disney or manga characters. They told me that the fashion in UK children's book illustration was for characters with smaller eyes, much smaller eyes.

 

Before an illustration like this can be put on the Illustration Friday site it needs a 50x50 thumbnail made.
