Reading
Reading is very important for building vocabulary and for developing a feeling for English.

Read some English every day. If you are finding books and articles too difficult then read comic books
(you can find some free online comic books on my reading resources link page).
They are very good at teaching language.
You read three or four sentences and you have a picture to look at to help you understand them.

Choose a book, newspaper, comic book or magazine that you find interesting,
and reading at least a page a day. It will not feel so bad.
Chose a book with modern language.
Dickens can wait, right now you should be reading Crime Thrillers or Science Fiction etc.
Here are some further reading ideas for,

Beginners

America the Beautiful
A more difficult beginner book but it is full of modern language and the story is autobiographical.
A well loved book with 21 reviews on Amazon last time I looked.

The End of the Pier
Martha Grimes
A crime novel but the crime is not the big thing. A bad crime but the book is lovingly written about Maude.
It is more about feelings, how she works in this diner.
Don’t read it because it’s a crime novel but because the character is just interesting.
